Duke….A Gentle Giant

We first met a 6 month old Duke when our rescue transported and paid for him to be neutered and have a rabies vaccine. We tried to take him into our fostering rescue at that time but the owner loved him. 8 months later we get a call that one of the neighbors does not like him using his yard for a bathroom and, by the way, he is scratching so much that he has lost some fur and has some bloody patches on his back.

When we picked up Duke it was obvious that he was very uncomfortable and he was undernourished, and dirty. The vet said he had a terrible flea infestation and we began the process of getting him healthy again. Duke is such a sweet dog, is  house broken, and beginning to walk well on a leash.  He is good with other dogs of all sizes and children. Duke is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heart worm negative.

At 14 months he is young enough to still have some puppy in him but old enough to not be too rambunctious.

Duke’s fosters says he is a really good dog.  The only time he is crated is when they are going to be out of the house for a few hours…they leave him out of his crate at night with no worries about what they might find the next morning.
